This is, I believe, a cabinet photo. Mounted (on heavier stock) measurements are 6.5 inches by 4.25 inches; photo measurements are 5.5 inches by 3.75 inches.
This is an old family photo, taken in Germany. The seated lady is the widowed mother of the five grown children. My best guess is it was taken in 1888 or 1889, prior to my great-grandfather (top left), emigrating to the US. The photo was originally mounted on blue cardboard and possibly framed. You can see where the cabinet photo was removed from the blue backing, as the paper stuck to the back of the photo. At some point, the blue backing was cellophaned and taped. If you look at the back of the mounting, you can see newspaper backing written in German. My grandmother wrote the names on the back (in English). Please look at pictures--the first four were taken by camera and the last five were scanned.
As all of my gently used/antique/vintage/retro/collectible items are pre-loved & pre-owned, they may show various amounts of wear, such as light scratching, scuffing and/or some metal discoloration.
I try to describe items fully, but I'm not an expert. Vintage or retro means they're not necessarily perfect.
They may or may not need cleaning.
To avoid disappointment, please look at pictures carefully.
Items are obtained from many sources: family members, friends, estate sales, etc.
All items are as is.
Although my home is smoke-free, I can't verify, nor guarantee that any item came from an environment free from pets, perfume, smoke & such.
Clothing is either washed or dryer freshened but, again, I can't verify nor guarantee & items came from a smoke/perfume/pet-free environment.
